Round hike with fabulous views and beautiful lakes
The round hike from Flims Dorf to Lake Cresta and Lake Cauma back to Flims Waldhaus is an easy hike suitable for beginners, families and couples. The hike is especially recommended in autumn, when the colours around the lakes are simply breathtaking. But also in summer the hike is fantastic, as Lake Cauma and Lake Cresta invite you to refresh yourself.
The round trip lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on how many breaks are made.
From Flims Dorf to Lake Cresta
The hike starts in Flims. The village can be easily reached by postbus from Chur in about 30 minutes. If you would like to visit the village of Flims before the hike, it is advisable to get off at the stop Flims Dorf, Post. Then you can start the hike and follow the road back to Chur for about 450 meters. Afterwards the path turns right onto Via Tull. Here the hike leads past fields and meadows.
After another 650 metres, the road turns right onto Via Punt La Reisga. From here, follow the signs towards Lake Cresta. The path leads through a peaceful forest. After a total of 45 minutes you reach the idyllically situated Lake Cresta with its unique scenery.
Lake Cresta with its crystal-clear water invites you to take a rest. During the summer months you can swim here, have a nice picnic or eat in the restaurant. From mid-May to mid-September, admission to the natural pool costs CHF 7.00 for adults and CHF 3.00 for children. In the other months, admission to the lake is free. The restaurant is open daily from mid-May to mid-October.
From Lake Cresta to Lake Cauma
From Lake Cresta we continue in the direction of Conn, always uphill through the forest. The hiking trail is very well signposted, so that one can hardly turn off wrong. After approximately 50 minutes you reach Conn, where the restaurant Conn invites you for coffee, cake or lunch. From there it continues uphill towards Lake Cauma. Unique views invite you to take short breaks again and again.
From Conn to Lake Cauma the walking time is about 40 minutes. The continuous easy ascent is compensated by the sight of the turquoise blue water of Lake Cauma. Lake Cauma is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Switzerland.
Bathing is also possible here in summer. During the high season there is a charge for admission. The Restaurant Caumasee offers various catering options and is open daily from mid-May to mid-October.
From Lake Cauma to Flims Waldhaus
The round hike ends with the trail from Lake Cauma to Flims Waldhaus. This last stage lasts only about 20 minutes, but it’s all uphill again. The ascent is however rewarded again with fabulous views of Lake Cauma. From the stop Flims Waldhaus, Caumasee you can take the postbus back to Chur.
Those who do not like to hike uphill but prefer downhill are recommended to do the hike in the opposite direction. If you start from Flims Waldhaus, you don’t have to walk back to Flims, but can walk from Lake Cresta to Trin Mulin and from there take the postbus back to Chur.
From Lake Cauma to Flims Waldhaus and vice versa there is a lift. The lift operates from May/June to October and is free of charge.
